Liz- casting off is described in detail at Knitting_Instructions.
belinda: With the right side facing you put the knitting needle through the stitches that have all ready been bound off. You are "picking them "back up
Taylor:Cast on the number of stitches to make the width of the scarf. Casting on can be found at Knitting_Instructions.
Catherine, if you are doing a plain garter stitch it does not matter which side is the WS as long as you keep it the same throughout the garment. On a stockinette stitch the smooth side is normally the right side.
Joann try this sampler scarf, it is very unique. http://suzies-yarnie-stuff.blogspot.com/2006/12/my-rib-stitch-sampler-scarf.html

-- Contributed by: JoannHello:
I'm making a baby sweater, knitting every row. Because it does not have a visual inside or outside, how can I determine WS or RS.
Thanks so much for the help.
-- Contributed by: CatherineBelinda, what you do is to pick up a stitch, you have the normal loop on the needle, and just below where you would normally put the needle, there is another hole, put ur needle through that and cont. like normal. That was the way I learned it!

-- Contributed by: BelindaHi, Thankyou for your help. My next problem now is when l need to pick up stitches on a neck. How do you pick them up and knit them at the same time? Thanks for any help.
Best wishes Belinda

You should have the wrong side of the item (the inside part that no one will see when the project is finished) facing you.

-- Contributed by: DanahindersWhen knitting and the pattern states to finish on a ws is that with the right side facing you as you knit, or facing away, never to sure of that. Would appreciate any advice on this.
Thanks
