There's great resource for fabric dye, compliments of Tulip Fashion Art at FaveCrafts.com. Just search for "Fun with Fabric Dye." This free eBook features 28 free craft projects organized by 18 different dye techniques.

Maddie, As long as your banding is nice and tight, and you only want to use one color you can soak your socks (or any garment) in the dye. The tight banding will ensure the white areas stay white. Make sure you rinse the excess out before removing the bands - that is key!

if i am tie dying socks and i do the stripe technique, can i simply let the socks soak int he dye? or will that leave no white spots

David,

You can tie dye almost any type of garment, as long as it's made from cotton. Simply follow the same procedure you'd use for making a shirt.

I am so happy to have stumbled across your site. I followed your simple instructions and have created really beautiful tie dye shirts. I have always loved tie dyed shirts but had no clue as how to do it. My kids love it also and we have so much fun.
