That sounds like a great project, but the only cat and dog items I could find were on the My Craft Book site. Perhaps one could be adapted to fit your needs?

You can also use a clay pot, saucer, and small glass fish bowl ($1 @ craft store) to make a candy dish that looks like an old fashioned gumball machine!
