Tissue Paper Flowers

If you're on a tight budget, filling the room with fresh flowers is probably not a very practical way to decorate for your Valentine's Day party. However, tissue paper flowers are affordable and easy to make. This is also an excellent project to enjoy with your children, since minimal supervision is required.

Supplies:

  • Tissue paper in desired colors
  • Green pipe cleaners

Instructions:

  1. Cut four to six pieces of tissue paper into a large rectangle.
  2. Fold the stack of paper like an accordion.
  3. Tie the center of the paper stack with the pipe cleaner.
  4. Carefully pull each piece of paper towards the center to form the petals of the flower. As the pieces are separated, the flower will continue to develop a more realistic appearance.
  5. When you have a dozen tissue paper flowers, arrange them in a vase or an old tin can covered with pretty patterned paper to make a centerpiece for your table.
