Tips for Printing Greeting Cards Online

Although the process for printing cards online can vary, many websites offering free greeting card projects will require you to download an Adobe PDF file. You’ll need the Adobe Reader software in order to view and print your project. If you don’t already have this program on your computer, visit the Adobe website to install it for free.

For best results, consider printing your cards on heavy cardstock. Textured cardstock designed for scrapbooking adds a unique look to any card. White or ivory paper will produce the most vibrant colors, but you can try experimenting with other shades of cardstock to create a number of interesting looks.

If you’re using a card design that requires printing on both sides of the paper, make sure you understand how your printer’s paper feeder works before printing your final project. Some inkjet printers will require you to insert the sheet upside down to print on the back side of the paper, while others offer automatic duplex printing.

To turn your card into a one-of-a-kind creation, add traditional card making embellishments to the preprinted design. Add buttons to the center of flowers, tie a ribbon bow around a teddy bear’s neck, or dangle colorful charms from a package. For the perfect finishing touch, use paper punches and decorative scissors to create a unique border.

Envelopes for your homemade greeting cards are readily available at most stationary and office supply stores. However, making your own envelopes is an easy and inexpensive alternative.
