How to Make a Xmas Card

From LoveToKnow Crafts

I saw a television program selling templates to use to make your own pop-up Christmas cards, but the technique is so simple you can do it without a template so long as you use a symmetrical image. I used an angel design copied from a CD of Christmas designs.

Supplies

  • Two identical blank greeting cards
  • Three suitable backing papers (I used an angel paper, a plain red paper and a paper with musical notes)
  • Two angel toppers to fit your card
  • Two mini angel toppers (one reversed)
  • Stickers (gold borders, seasonal stickers, etc.)

Instructions

Score down the center of each side of the first card and fold back to make an accordion shape. On the fold of the card, draw half of your outline for the cut out shape. I have used a simple angel shape. Keep within the fold lines. Then cut out the shape.

With the second card, cut a piece of backing paper slighter bigger than half the card and stick to the reverse of the middle section. For the front of the card, cut red backing paper and stick to the card, leaving a tiny border then cut a third paper (I used music paper) to go in the center.

Cut out an angel topper, decoupage with the second topper and stick to card with foam pads. Finish the front with gold borders. Glue along the folded edges of first card and stick to second card. Cut out the mini angel toppers and stick back to back and hang from a gold thread from the center of the pop up.

Finish the inside with stickers of your choice. I have used Seasons Greetings angels and stars.
