Free Christmas crafts patterns are like a gold mine to the thrifty crafter. Craft books can be so expensive, and it's likely you won't be interested in making every craft in the book or magazine anyway. Websites that offer free Christmas crafts patterns are wonderful because they allow you to pick from their wares and take only what you want, completely free of charge.
A Basic Free Christmas Crafts Pattern
Before we get started, I just want to mention something that I think could be much more widely used as a craft tool when you're looking for Christmas patterns: cookie cutters.
Almost everyone has a jumble of Christmas cookie cutters, and their great basic shapes are wonderful for cutting out paper to use on Christmas cards, making shapes in dough for your Christmas ornaments, cut shapes out of felt or paper to make ornaments, wall hangings or other crafts, even use as a template for a cross stitch pattern.
You could use cookie cutters as templates for seasonal coasters, magnets, table decorations and much more. The next time you're stumped for decorating ideas, pull out your cookie cutters. If nothing else, you can do some baking and no one will notice you haven't been decorating!
Don't Forget the Library!
Another point I want to stress is that free Christmas crafts patterns don't just come from the Internet. Your local library can be an amazing resource for craft ideas. Most libraries carry a few craft magazines, and you can look through some old issues, if they are available, to see if there are any projects you like.
Also browse through the craft books section. In my local library there are several Christmas craft books, including a couple of those annual collection books published by a magazine publisher. While some craft ideas get dated fast, others are pretty timeless. At the very least going through these books will give you ideas for your own craft patterns.

Try to stop these crafting disasters before they start by carefully reading through the instructions before you decide to do a craft. If anything doesn't make sense to you, don't attempt that project.
