Where to Find Discount Quilting Books
Discount quilting books can be found in many places, including online and at bookstores, garage sales or local libraries. The key is to get a book you know you will use at the skill level at which you are most comfortable.
E-books
The Internet is a growing reference for all sorts of online books, including books on quilting. These types of e-books allow you to download the book and print out only what you need. Some sources for discounted online books for quilting are:

Online Auctions or Garage Sales
