Well, it’s official. We are a crafty Michael’s family. My son is having his 6 birthday party there in a few weeks. It seems like a very reasonable deal—$50 to rent the craft room for two hours plus someone from the store to lead the craft. There are several crafts projects to choose from, which cost extra, but range for about $4 per child to $20. It’s worth the $50 to me to not have to clean my house before and after the party. |

I am so jealous! We have no Michaels anyplace near us, but that sounds like lots of fun. Of course, my son has minimal patience for crafts—so I’d have to throw the party for myself. Think they’d let me have 30th birthday party? |

Sounds like an awesome idea! I love that you don’t have to worry about the clean-up either! I don’t know why adults don’t get to have craft-themed birthday parties. You should totally do it, Dana! My sister threw me a bachelorette party that involved making decoupaged candle holders and beaded wine glass charms (followed by your standard bachelorette activities). |

I think you could have a grown-up party actually. I saw a flyer that said they have party options for kids and adults. That would be a great idea for a girls night out—get together and make jewelry or something for the house. For Ryan’s party, we’re making t-shirts with the Transformer shield. The kids will each trace the pattern through the shirt and then color it with fabric markers. It shouldn’t be too messy since there isn’t any glue or paint involved. |

Holly the party at Michaels sounds like a really good idea and the craft choice is great for that age. Everyone should have a lot of fun! I think the idea of a grown up theme party is becoming popular lately. Within the last 2 months my daughter went to a 40th birthday party that was at a bowling ally complete with the whole “birthday bowling package”. Then a friend of mine just had a surprise 60th birthday at Dave and Busters which is a game-room type place. It included free tokens for everyone to play on the games. |

I love the idea of having a grown up birthday party. Everyone is so busy today and most of us only see our friends when we’re gathered for events for the kids. It would be nice to have time set aside to do something just for the grownups. |

We had Ryan’s birthday party yesterday and it was really fun. Michaels did a great job of coming up with a Transformer shield that the kids all traced on their t-shirts and I loved that I didn’t have to run the craft myself. Plus the room was still big enough for them to play and have other birthday activities. Most of the moms said they didn’t even know Michaels hosted parties, so it was nice to do something out of the ordinary. |
