My husband has a gigantic collection of t-shirts. Some even date back to when he was in high school! I’m getting really tired of trying find room to put away laundry in his THREE DRAWERS OF T-SHIRTS, so I’ve finally put my foot down. He’s kind of a sentimental guy, though, and he doesn’t want to get rid of the shirts entirely. I was thinking it might be fun to make him a quilt out of the t-shirts. Has anyone ever done this? |

Hi Kate - That sounds like a wonderful idea. That way he will still have the shirts - it will be a type of memory quilt. I have never made anything like that but I do know there are instructions for making them on websites. It shouls be alot of fun to make! |

I saw this on a tv show once. I think they just used a square from the front panel of each shirt, this way the message was still displayed. Here’s a link to a site with a tutorial. It looks great but I’d never be able pull it off. |

Great link, Holly! Thanks! I really like how the messages are different sizes. I know my husband has some shirts with big designs, but a lot of them are just smaller printed things. It will be an interesting project! |

T-shirt quilts are so cool! I actually saved a bunch of camp shirts for years, hoping to get around to learning how to sew well enough to make them into a quilt. But, after several moving several times and running out of storage space, I eventually had to get rid of them. I’d love to see a picture when your quilt is done! |
